As protests erupt across the country, a worrying “trend” is developing (we put the trend in quotes because fortunately it is currently only a pattern of two). Guys show up with bizarre gun protests and try to live their own perverse versions of Rambo how they aim at the demonstrators.
Our first psychopath is Brandon McCormick, who appeared with a bow and arrow to protest in Salt Lake City:
McCormick drove his vehicle into the crowd before pulling out the bow, shouting “All life is important,” nocking his arrow, and then supposedly pointing it at demonstrators like Batshit Everdeen. It is unclear whether he was able to fire a shot before the protesters flooded him, ending one of the stupidest shootings the world has ever seen. McCormick has shared racist memes on Facebook in the past and talked about going back in time to murder Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton if you thought this was just a misunderstanding about a man who is a very poor man in the middle of a civilian population Hawkeye cosplay makes right-wing demonstration.

Then there is the scholar Charles Shoultz, who stabbed a demonstrator with a sword before being thrown away by a group of demonstrators. Schoultz admits that it was a mistake to write in a series of posts: “Hey, funny story. The guy in this video who can be kicked in the ass? That’s me. I had a little adventure tonight, when I tried to protect a bar that I love, one that ended up in the hospital with me. But I’m pretty much alive, though a little worse for wear. “
What? This guy treats trying to murder someone as if it were a conspiracy How I met your mother. This is not a “bit of adventure”, dude, where you make a mistake and just have to shake it off until the next episode comes. This is a whole race of people campaigning for their right not to be murdered by the police, and you stabbed one of them to protect the place where you are most likely to be crappy and to tell women they you should call Aragorn.
Hopefully these two idiots are the only data points, and we later refer to these incidents as “the time when two idiots attacked demonstrators with medieval weapons”. Otherwise, we have to face the even harsher reality that there are more of these weird nerds who don’t see demonstrators as people but as targets in a live action role-playing game.
