Since we start eating people, there are food trends. Some have come and gone, others are here to stay. And yet some are scary. Here are the craziest food trends, old and new.
If you think of jello salads when you hear that term, you're right. These salads were the thing you had to bring or prepare, so to speak. And growing up in the '90s, they were a staple in my house as well. For dessert, however, with fruits. The thing is, when they came out and when they were the most popular, it was common to use all sorts of things in these salads. One such type used lemon or orange jelly along with peaches, peach juice and cooked rice. This one is not too funny. But then there were others. The Spanish salad, as it was called, contained lemon jelly, pimientos, celery, cucumber, cabbage and vinegar. In a word, yuck.
Yes, that's popular, especially among health fanatics. And although I have heard that it is not very good, it should be very good for you. The history of Wheatgrass describes a girl with acute lymphoblastic leukemia who attempted a treatment based on grass and enema, but did not rescue her. A raw diet and eating things like wheatgrass may not have cured the girl, but it still has benefits, and it's still wise to add your diet or medical treatment, but many. The taste was described as grass, like freshly cut grass. It can not be for everyone, but for everyone? This is definitely one of the strangest food trends.
With the daily lives of Americans and humans, it is no surprise these days that food and shelf-stable snacks are so easy to eat that they will not only be popular but will last a long time. In fact, they have been around for a long time, and in the 1960s, the mass media portrayed these freeze-dried astronaut foods as the way of the future. These foods are still economical and efficient, and there are more species than ever before. There are many healthy options such as freeze-dried peaches, apples, peas and green beans. But if you want to saturate your sweet tooth, opt for an ice cream and enjoy a dessert like the astronauts do, or like any other that eats freeze-dried foods.
Okay, so I love cucumbers, I really do. I like the dill cucumbers on a bacon cheeseburger, the baby dills straight from the jar, and the bread and butter rounds as a snack or even as a side dish to a meal. But even a pickle lover can agree that the recent pickles trend has probably gone too far. Example popsicles. I mean, only no. Unless, of course, you're cutting pieces and adding them to your Bloody Mary, that's just not something that should be one thing. But with so many new pickle items on the market today, there are some delicious things to try, even if you're a pickle lover. Cucumber Soup, Fried Cucumber, Cucumber Chips, Pickled Popcorn, Pickles, Pickled Peppermint Sweet and Pickled Sunflower Seeds are now available.
Yes, that's one thing. And yes, people really want it. Most things are packed in gold flakes and have a higher price due to the "spices". You can get gold on your cakes, donuts, bagels, marshmallows and much more. And the thing is, nowadays you can not just sprinkle gold on your food. You can also have glitter or rainbow food and a whole host of things to choose from, because this may be weird, but it's one of the strangest food trends that will be popular in 2019.
Do you think these are the strangest foods? Trends, or do you like them? There are so many crazy food trends today, but there is something for everyone.
