The center of “Pawn Stars” lies in the close bond of the Harrison family. It is common knowledge that Richard had a very special relationship with Rick.
But why should the old man suddenly decide to delete his son’s name from his will? Information about it slowly crept into the public and left the fans with a million questions.
“Pawn Stars” is an extremely popular show that has been running for 17 seasons. It has caught the attention of the audience – even after the sad death of one of the biggest peasant stars.
With fans enjoying all of the different relationships and dynamics between characters, they wouldn’t have expected the camera to be a secret.
Richard Harrison is the owner of the shop and comes from an impoverished family. He was involved in petty crime and, after unsuccessfully stealing a car, decided to serve in the Navy instead of receiving a penalty.
Richard served well and earned the rank of Petty Officer First Class after 20 years of service. When he returned home, he desperately needed money.
Richard had now married Joanne, his love, and while he was in the Navy, Joanne was struggling with her small real estate business.
They had 3 sons to look after. And when Joanne’s business went down, Richard decided that he had to take her to town to save his family.
With the rest of their money, the Harrisons settled in Las Vegas. Richard found a 300 square meter space he could rent that would become his business – selling and buying silver and gold coins.
After a while, Richard managed to renovate his shop and turn it into a pawnshop. When he saw the success, he asked his eldest son Rick for help.
Business was booming, as was the relationship between Richard and Rick. They had good business synergies and used a “good / bad policeman” to get the best prices on goods.
Rick gained haggling experience while working in the store, which he made his father proud of. Rick has become an icon on the show. But what about Richard’s other sons?
During the show’s 17 seasons, there were more than a few exciting and emotional episodes. Nevertheless, the father and his son have come closer over the years – with every argument that only makes them more comfortable and trusting with each other.
A business can have a dramatic impact on a family, although Richard’s other sons have never been as close to Richard as Rick.
Rick’s hero is not hidden, he proudly declares that he and his father share more than just their life together. And nobody can question the bond they share.
Richard was lucky that his son in business did not affect their relationship. If only they knew how close the tragedy was.
Richard struggled with Parkinson’s disease and died at the beginning of season 15. This left a big gap in the show and devastated the family. The fans were broken when they saw how the characters on the show coped with their loss.
Rick was completely destroyed by his father’s death. But after burying Richard, Rick found that their relationship wasn’t as perfect as it seemed.
In all 17 seasons of the show and with all the antics of father and son, priceless items, hustle and bustle and rare artifacts, there were two more characters on the show.
Star characters were Richard’s grandson, Corey and legendary fan favorite Austin Russel, better known as Chumlee. With Chumlee the fighting started behind the camera.
As if the difficulty of dealing with a father’s death was not enough, the old man managed to trigger one last piece of drama for the Harrisons.
Usually, wills leave a legacy or property to the deceased’s family. But when the Harrison brothers went to the law firm to see what was in Richard’s will, they were amazed at what their father had done.
When reading the old man’s will, the incredible part was that one of the Harrison brothers was kicked out of the will. In the part of the will that was accessible to the public, Richard said, “I want to express my love and affection for Christopher Keith Harrison. For the purposes of this will, however, I have intentionally and with full knowledge failed to take care of him and his problem. “
Chumlee and Corey were included. They had obvious tensions with Richard, but they stayed in his will. Then why wasn’t Christopher there?
Odd one out
Richard had admitted in the past that he had almost fired Chumlee because of his hiring and business decisions. This led to even more tension in the pawnshop.
Chumlee’s house was ransacked by the police and what they found damaged the company’s good name and also put enormous emphasis on the family’s relationship with him.
The police raid found substances and firearms, and Chumlee was only given three years’ probation. But the family stopped their little arguments that created tensions when Richard died.
They knew Richard was smart with his money, so they were all interested in what the lawyer had to say. They just never thought they would hear that.
Rick and his two brothers sat down with the lawyer and listened carefully to what he had to say about their father’s will.
Although Richard was difficult in terms of money and business, he was never in secret. When the lawyer brought the news to them, Rick needed the lawyer to repeat himself.
Father’s love and affection
The lawyer looked at the piece of paper that was Richard’s will and said, “I want to express my love and affection for Christopher Keith Harrison. For the purposes of this will, however, I have intentionally and with full knowledge failed to take care of him and his problem. “
Christopher was never one for his father’s business and as such never appeared on the show. But that doesn’t tell us why he was excluded from the will.
The brother riddle
Most people who watched probably never knew that Christopher even existed. He has never been on the show and his existence has only now become apparent.
Although he was not part of the pawnshop, Christopher was certainly loved by his father, just as his father loved Rick. Why had he been left out?
Taken out of business
People who watch the show wonder why Christopher was left out. Some think that it was because he did not contribute to the business and the earnings were therefore not his property. Others do not understand the “problem” that Richard mentioned in his will.
A viewer commented, “Sorry, I would like to know why he stopped. Didn’t he get along with the other brother? Or just not the father? “The lawyers said Richard had never given a reason for Christopher’s removal.
Rick fondly remembers his father: “He was my hero and I was lucky to get a very cool ‘old man’ as my father.”
Rick continued, “That I was allowed to share it with so many others and see them what a great family man he was is something I am grateful to have had with him.”
An unresolved question
It seems like the answer to why, for a while, a question will remain in people’s minds.
Corey and Rick mentioned that they had previously spoken to the old man about it, but out of respect they said they would keep the reason secret. Since most still think that it has to do with the family business, the details remain with the old man and his son Rick.
