She was holding the fish in her hands, it wriggled as it tried to get away. Her husband took his camera and zoomed in on her catch. He turned the lens and it came into focus.
That when he did a double take. There was something on the water behind his wife. It was something moving. He yelled at his friend on the boat to come closer and find out what it was.
Birthday on the water
Robin and Bruce brought their friends Michale and Shawn Sahr to the Gulf of Mexico to celebrate their birthday like every year. It was a tradition that the friends had had for a long time
They were way out on the water, so they didn’t think they’d see anything other than the beautiful water, the horizon, and maybe another ship if they were lucky.
Something on the water
Bruce was enjoying himself with a beer in his left hand and a fishing rod in his right. The fish came in hard and fast and had a relaxed time.
They caught a huge fish that could barely fit in their hands. He gave the fish to his wife and took out his beloved camera. As he peered through the camera lens, he saw something he hadn’t expected.
What is it?
He looked through the lens again and turned the lens. The bright orange object emerged against the beautiful blue ocean water. It was bumped in the waves as it floated on the surface.
Maybe a buoy? No, a buoy would be bigger. Maybe some flotsam? He narrowed his eyes to see it a little easier, then suddenly they widened in disbelief. Did he see hair? He asked to be brought closer.
The object came closer as they approached it. They could see what they thought was a life jacket floating on the surface. Bruce prayed it wasn’t. He really hoped it was just floating debris.
But what he saw tied his stomach together. Along with what he suspected was the hair he was seeing now … Limbs? No, please no.
A closer look
He told his wife to look away when he took a closer look. He didn’t want her to be traumatized.
He threw down the camera and went straight to the edge of the boat. He felt like he was vomiting, but held back the need. It was partially submerged below the surface, but he could see a small nose. When the most terrible thoughts surfaced in his head, he finally sighed in relief.
A children’s toy?
“It’s just rubbish, maybe a children’s toy?” They all had the same thoughts about the garbage that was floating on the surface. Bruce took his fishing rod and nudged it.
The pile suddenly moved and Bruce jumped into the air. Was there anything alive in the pile? He nudged it one more time and it moved again.
Bruce got the horror of his life when the orange heap of rubbish moved more irregularly and began to swim onto the boat with weak arms reaching for their ship.
He found it difficult to breathe and began to cough heavily. Bruce shouted, “Oh my god, get a blanket! Hurry, he’s drowning! “The men on the boat reached for the water.
They pulled it onto the boat from the icy water below. They could now see the Pruney body they had pulled aboard.
At this point, Bruce’s wife took command. She pushed past them and wrapped it in as many blankets as she could find. “Are you all right? Do not worry. You are safe now. Where is your family? “The men couldn’t believe what they were seeing.
They actually saved a Jack Russell. After the puppy made contact with the boat, it collapsed. They must have fought for a long time and could no longer hold out.
The dog also needed to be hydrated quickly. He shivered for over an hour before he finally calmed down. Where is he from?
There was no ID or other details and microchips were useless there, so Bruce called the Coast Guard.
To their surprise, someone had actually reported a dog that was missing on their boat … 3 hours ago. They exchanged details to make sure it was the right animal. The result?
We will get it
It was very much the dog that was missing and his name was Jägermeister.
“Give us your coordinates and we will come to you.” Bruce gave the numbers, then sat back to watch the amazing turn of events. It wasn’t long before the little guy was walking around.
Cold and trembling
“He was shaking like a leaf,” Robin later explained in an interview with the New York Daily News. They knew they had to warm him up as soon as possible.
“We wrapped towels around him and reassured him – it took about 30 minutes,” recalled Robin. But how did Jägermeister receive the strangers who had saved his life?
Fortunately, Jägermeister had absolutely nothing against it. He seemed to understand that he was now in safe hands. “He was very friendly [and] very cute, ”said Robin.
In addition, Jägermeister actually seemed to enjoy spending time on the boat with his new friends and wasted no time securing a prime spot for himself.
To warm up
He cuddled, played and licked the four – more than grateful for his rescuers.
In fact, he was so comfortable that he dropped onto the upper deck to sunbathe – no one could blame him for wanting to get warmer. But the confused friends still had a million questions.
Don’t get excited
“After he calmed down, he jumped on the top deck of our boat and sunbathed,” said Robin, laughing. Now that the little dog was no longer in the forest, they had to reunite him with his owner.
When the coast guard finally arrived, the dog quickly jumped on board the rescue ship and made himself comfortable there too. But where were its owners?
Bruce watched the Jack Russell scurry aboard the Coast Guard boat. It would be a short trip back to its owner (who was waiting for him ashore).
The four friends decided to follow the reunion and see it. As they neared the bank, they saw Jagermeister’s owner running forward and into the water.
The relief swelled and the tears flowed. The dog jumped into its owner’s arms and wagged its tail angrily with joy.
But what happened? How did the dog end up at sea so far alone? Fortunately, he had been wearing his bright orange life jacket or he might never have been spotted!
Joey Myrick had all the answers. Joey and Jägermeister were on a boat trip when Joey stopped to check the hull.
While he was out of sight, Jägermeister decided to jump overboard to go on an adventure of his own. When Joey found out his beloved dog was missing, he was ill worried.
When asked how she was feeling when we saw her again, Robin said, “Wonderful. It was heartwarming and heartbreaking at the same time.
We all had tears in our eyes … he ran and the dog started to lick his face, “continued Robin,” … we all cried. It was really a very, very heartwarming moment. It was very happy! “
