It's National Pizza Season! These are the 25 best pizzerias in America

Not every pizza is the same, but many people would argue that almost everything is damn good. While purists still consider a Neapolitan cake of the old school as something special, the growing variety in the world of pizza is definitely a good thing for our taste buds.

In honor of the National Pizza Show, The Daily Meal combed everyone to find out in which pizzerias the most delicious pieces of cake were served. The team researched the latest and greatest pizzerias across the country, created a survey that spanned nearly 1,000 of them, and then sent them to chefs, restaurant critics, bloggers, writers, and other culinary authorities.

The poll asked panelists to do this for their favorite pizzerias based on a fairly open definition of "the perfect cake," which, according to The Daily Meal, is "neither too sweet nor too salty". Sauce, "well distributed cheese", "meaningfully combined coverings" must contain. "A spicy, hearty crust" and "a sensible, balanced and engaging relationship" of ingredients that "maintain structural integrity regardless of style".

Based on this definition, it seems that voters are quite asked to follow their hearts. Did her hearts (and other senses) lead her to New York, the biggest boaster of pizza? For many of them yes: Of the 25 best pizzerias, 1

2 are in New York.

However, the list was not without surprises. The legendary Frank Pepe Pizzeria Napoletana in New Haven, Connecticut, took the top spot, followed by Lucali and Razza Pizza Artigianale from Brooklyn in Jersey City, New Jersey.

Although the East Coast undoubtedly dominated, Arizona, Oregon and California dominated. Everyone made the list once, and Illinois claimed a respectable three points.

The pies themselves ranged from Sicilian to Chicago's polarizing, deep dish, and each is its own unique beauty.
